Today’s examples again rekindle an interest beyond the digital confines…

Because you are dealing with an “analog” artist, you might consider how to give your program an “analog” feel—eh?

Not to mention, even these virtual programs (i.e. Photoshop) all reference the “real” world…

Ideas to consider:

How extreme can you get with analog media?

Interesting minimal concept — type driven with hints of the artist, montage-style.

Newspaper-esque?

Start to think about how your whole package will actually be packaged?

What added elements could be included?

How will the piece feel intact?

Retro patterns, analog techniques
Print then re-scan?

Use your artist/designer as the veneer?

Find something that looks like it’s from the time of your artist

Could this work as an interface?

The “sketchbook” style — an interesting “splash” screen with hand-rendered type

Borrow the aesthetic of your artist — but perhaps update it?

Take it further…

“Slacker” minimal interface

Again, what would your artist be doing if he/she were alive today?

You can infuse yourself and your ideas into the work…

Has the look of something left lying around a studio…

Blueprints, canvas, paint, pencils, brushes, a compass? What materials/textures could be integrated into the design?

Perhaps the shape of your piece relates directly to the artist/designer?

Work in an analog style, then scan/photograph the pieces

Software is always making references to the real world — how will your piece do it?

Very minimal, has a Miro-esque quality

Textures, crudely drawn components mixed with type

What will your software do?

How would a software interface be designed around this piece?

Or this “Gorey-esque” imagery?

An interesting design—even better if it were some sort of interface…

All of the ideas from previous projects are still valid…
